Happy Halloween!!!

Mwa-ah-ahhhh!!!
This year, I got a wild hair and broke out my clown stuff. I'm not going full-blown, because it takes FOREVER to do the full face makeup the way they taught us in clown school (plus a lot of my makeup is old, and hey, a girl's gotta take care of her girly skin, right?), but I still have the outfit and the wig, and I just feel like being a goob for a day. I REALLY hope none of my techs aren't clown-a-phobes. God help them if they are. This is gonna be fun. I'll do my best to get people to take dorky pictures to post.

PLUS I want to dress up to hand out all the candy I got for potential trick-or-treaters. I'm hoping I get a LOT, because I have a LOT of candy. If not, my techs are gonna be REALLY happy on Thursday.

Happy Halloween. BE SAFE!

Eagles Fly...

For some reason I've had this song going through my head while I was cleaning this weekend..

I found the following, which really made me think about things. I'm homesick.

Happy Monday, peeps.

Do NOT Try This At Home...

Okay...'twas Saturday night. I've got the weekend to myself. I've been cleaning all day, been accosted by punks in the parking lot after getting home from the grocery, (yeah, they were real tough, peeling out with their punkasses in mommy's silver sedan with the punkass thumpin' stereo going ~ OOO I was So scared!).

I had a roast in the crock pot, it was getting dark, and what better way to kick off Halloween week with a little "EXORCIST..."

I thought, "Yeah, okay, I'm a tough bitch, I can handle watching this movie by myself." So I lit some candles, made things "kinda" spooky, set up my TV tray, and started eating dinner... RIGHT.

I called the dog, even though she stares at me when I'm eating. No go. I called her again, trying to bribe her with leftovers. I turned all the lights on. I called the dog. I grabbed the afgan. I called the m'f'ing dog. She finally came up and snuggled. I held on to her for dear life. She hated it and got down. I put my plate away, hid under the afgan, and flipped channels.

I should have known to put on football, because I heard OSU kicked some serious ASS. DOH! I'd take that over potential nightmares ANY day.

I digress. Same movie came on IN THE DAYTIME today...I was gardening and marinating chicken, getting ready to bbq, so I thought "What the hell..."

STILL could NOT watch it alone, AND I broke the bbq (propane) and couldn't get it back together.

MAN!!! And all this time I thought I was a TOMBOY.

I couldn't say it better than this...

And thanks to Birdman, I can't get the following song (ahem and CD) out of my head ~ you're lucky you live so far away, ha ha!

OH the Bad Day

While I wasn't a COMPLETE bitch to everyone, I was in a FOUL mood all damn day, and this just describes it. I KNOW there's someone out there who knows exactly where I'm coming from. Bad dreams, lousy neighbors, not enough sleep, 5-year-old adults on the job, the WORKS.

I LOVE this song. I LOVED Dragonball Z while it was on, and when I found this video I laughed my fool head off and HAD to share. I didn't get how anything was synchronized, but still had to giggle. Is it sad that it was the highlight of my day?

I used to play my guitar after showering off the restaurant smells when I cooked at JB's the last time I got tired of working in an office. I'd just sit and play and sing while my "boyfriend" at the time sat around the table playing some sort of role-playing card game with his buddies. I loved it, they loved the food I brought home, and they always asked me to play more. Good times.

The day I had today made me want to just do the short-order cook thing again. Either that or just say "fuck it" and do outside gardening for the winter.

At least I wouldn't need a green card, right?

Happy Hump Day, citizens!

Holy Mack'rel, Andy!!!

Christ, things have been crazy busy for me the past week or so. Brotherman is CONSTANTLY at my house, so I don't have a lot of time to myself. The computer is in "his" room, so if he goes to bed, I can't sit up and chat or post or check emails.
Anyway!

I had a birthday over the weekend!!! WOO HOO! It was quiet for the most part. I drank WAY too much and ate too much junk. I baked. I slept when I could, if the elephant parade upstairs wasn't on the rampage. Last night they were waking me up at 12:30, 3, 4, and 5 this morning. By 5:30 I gave up and just got out of bed and started making noise. THEY were quiet. Fuck 'em. I swear they are crackheads. Come ON...WHO does laundry at 1am on a Monday/Tuesday???
I got some flowers on Friday...
I lit the candles on Saturday, which was the "actual day."
Monday I got to work and my boss had left me a card and put up a sign
Pretty sweet, and someone brought donuts, although I'm not a big "sweets" person.

Today, I get to work and found someone had left the coffee pot on all night, so the office reeked of burnt coffee. That and there was water, crumbs, and shit all over the counters, not to mention the jug of water that the receptionist put in the fridge that leaked everywhere.

What can I say, I work with a bunch of fucking 5-year-olds. I think I just didn't get enough sleep and am sick and tired of cleaning up after everyone. Don't get me started on missing paperwork...
Hope everyone is doing well, I know I've been MIA lately.

Back in the Saddle!!!

I finally got my oven fixed today. After two weeks of me complaining to the office, the maintenance guys got their shit together and replaced the element that's been out in my oven. They also replaced the leaky garbage disposal and the screen door to my patio that's been off its track for over a week.

I celebrated with some home-made mac&cheese, and plan to make the apple cobbler I've been planning, and baking some cookies over the weekend. Call it my own little b-day gift to myself!

The cook in me is BACK! My energy level has been getting better, and I'm really starting to eigher get used to the pain or learning to manage it with exercise and working on the latch-hook rug. I'm about 2/3 done, and can't wait to post a picture. I WILL post this pic of the mac&cheese, though...
Brotherman helped me hang some pics/posters in hereand with a few more touches, this will be a pretty cool den/music room. The Indians won AGAIN, and everything feels pretty groovy...I'm happy for my hometown.

Happy Hump Day, peeps!!!

Ills, Pills, and...

Dessert...

I HAD to get you guys a pic of this dessert I made! Even though the maintenance people STILL haven't fixed the bottom element in my oven, I did my BEST here with some puff pastries and strawberries I had in the freezer (I finally got the gumption to organize it), and this didn't turn out half bad:

It could have used a sprig of mint or a dusting of something for garnish, but I WILL say it was YUMMY. Vanilla custard in the center of a puff-pastry shell and lots of (lowfat) whipped cream and strawberries, with a thin layer of chocolate syrup at the bottom. After a nice meal of a few spinach/cheese ravioli with home-made, homegrown basil-pesto sauce and a salad, this was just what the doctor ordered.

Speaking of doc...knock on wood, I won't have to go back for another year. The pills seem to be working, although the post-op stabs just don't want to stop. I'm getting used to it, and it's a LOT better than what I was going through before I got cut. They say that when you have to have a limb cut off, you can still feel it for awhile, so I'm attributing this pain to "phantom cramps." As long as I don't overdo the workouts, I'm alright...

Hey, whatever it takes, right? Life has become a new adventure! I'm doing my best to embrace it all.

Have a great Monday, chillens! I'm enjoyin' the COLD 60 degree temps (HEY...COLD for AZ, ok??? LOL) in the mornings and being able to sleep with the windows open for a change...

Life Happens!!!

I used to post prolifically. Now I barely find time in the mornings or evening to DO it (okay, let's not talk about "doing it," I just get depressed...ha ha), let alone visit y'all's sites. I have been missing it. Even BRADLEY sent me a comment.

Anyway, HELLO, CHILDRENS!!! Been going through some weird complications, had a couple doc appointments, but the good news is, I'm going to LIVE!!! I developed some weird internal infection, my fever spiked up to 102, I was off for 1/2 day, and have just been taking care of ME. Not that I'm saying, "fuck all of you," but I really needed to get some rest and take the drugs and hang with the doc's orders, while doing my best to get my time in at work.

So far, so good, as long as I just go to work, come home, take care of the dog, and then just either lie down quietly and watch HEROES (or Top Chef, or whatever else looks halfway decent) and have some soft food or soup, and/or sit quietly doing my latch-hook. Either way, the body still needs rest, even after two months.

AAAGFGGGAAA HHHHFFFFFFFUUUCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!

I should be growing impatiens on my porch, since I'm so impatient about this recovery. ha ha! Everything I've been growing is doing well, and soon the place will be a little zen garden for me. My DILL isn't growing well, and that bothers me, because I really wanted to use my own to put up a couple jars of pickles. My grandmother had an AMAZING dill patch in her backyard.

I AM going to say that I watched "Ellen" when I got home from the doc's the other day and she had Matchbox 20 on. They're no Counting Crows, but ran a close 2nd in a pinch for me.

Happy Hump Day, peeps!

Saturday Morning Zen

I woke up, looked at the clock: "HOLY SHIT, it's 6:30!!! I'm gonna have to rush to get ready." I jumped out of bed, hustled the dog and realized...

It's fucking SATURDAY, what the hell. I hate it when that happens.
Obviously it happened for a reason, because the sunrise was SPECTACULAR, and made me take a deep breath and regroup. Not to mention, it was only 59 degrees outside. I actually had to put on a pair of sweat pants! I know to you nor'easterners 59 is "short-sleeved" weather, but to us leatherskinned desert dwellers, that's damn near COLD. I actually dreamed of SNOW last night. Maybe this year I'll get my birthday wish. ha ha!
Enjoy the sunrise!!! I'm sure I looked like a total fool walking around in my PJ's taking these pics, but I didn't give a goat's beard.

And YES I took these with the camera phone. Couldn't you just eat the clouds like cotton candy?! I was thinking about submitting some of my pics to Arizona Highways magazine. Is that too pretentious?

Happy Saturday!!! I'm loving that I got up this early...makes for a longer weekend.

Indian Summer

UGH! The temp has gone back up (albeit still not over 100, but still hot) along with the humidity. It keeps threatening to rain. There was a FORTY percent chance yesterday, but we got NOTHIN.' All the cells circled right around us. The clouds were pretty cool, but because I've been lazy and my camera's memory was full, I couldn't get any cool shots. I'll post some older cool ones this weekend. There are some doozies.

This weekend has the promise of REST. For some reason I've been getting stabbing pains in my abdomen, sometimes so bad they wake me up. I even had to leave early one day this week, which is NEVER a good thing. Time is money. The doc still hasn't called me back, so I think I'm just going to call my GP and see what HE has to say. I'm sure it's just the diverticulitis flaring up. I have been eating a lot of popcorn, not knowing that I should have been avoiding it. Who KNEW?

This morning is cooler and windy, and they're calling for a LOT more wind later today. Come ON! Where are the cool mountain clouds that come down here every year?

Hope everyone has a good weekend! I'm planning on poolside, since the pools don't feel so much like bath water these days. That, and I'm OFFICIALLY SINGLE again!!!!! I'll rant about that horrific, psycho bullshit when I have more time.
Treble P.S. Congrats to the Cleveland Indians! Like I said, I don't follow baseball, but I'm from there and have always been loyal. I'm not really a "bandwagon" sort of person.

A Little Rain...

It's still muggy out here in beautiful AZ, and the clouds look like they could burst at any minute. Not that they will, or if/when they do, the rain will probably just evaporate before hitting the ground, making it even more humid. Not typical for this time of year, but I'll take it over 120 degrees any given day. Temps haven't been much over 95 for the past week. For this I am grateful.

I really got NOTHIN' today. I hate it when that happens. Maybe I'll take some pictures so I have at least some form of entertainment for later. If not, I'll just have to start surfing the 'net for weird, wild stories. Don't make me do it!!!

Happy October!

I can't believe it's October already. I've been through a lot of changes this year, all for the better (I hope).

"Fall" has finally made it to AZ, although this morning was a little warm. We had some lightening and thunder last night, and it stayed overcast for this morning, but it's just muggy enough outside to be slightly annoying.

I spent the weekend with brotherman (he's become almost a permanent fixture here since I moved), and we watched a couple of movies:

Saw III: GORE, GORE, and MORE GORE. Not as good as the first one, and I didn't see the second one. Brotherman saw all 3, and said he liked I & II the best. I made the mistake of putting that one in first and then trying to eat while it was on. Bad idea.

The Return: Sarah Michelle Geller did a pretty good job in this one. It held our attention through the whole thing, although it wasn't that hard to figure out how the ending would turn out. Still a pretty good movie, though.

I rented "The Pursuit of Happyness" with Will Smith, but didn't get a chance to watch it. The movies aren't due back till Friday, so I've got all week and don't have to worry about missing Heroes tonight. God, I sound like a couch potato.

Have a great Monday everyone! I'm hoping things at work will be back to "normal." We'll see...
