Holy F**K Me with a Silver Spoon, Batman!!!

A better title would be, "Spa Day, My ASS!!!"

I made the mistake of venturing out to the MALL of all places on a FRIDAY NITE. Well, I didn't really go to to the "MALL" proper. There's a Target superstore or whatever they're calling it these days within 0.5 miles of the mall, but I gotta drive around there to get there. UGH...

It so happens that there is a "Dolce" spa close by the light to the "entrance." Since I've been going through the WRINGER lately, I thought, "ok...maybe it's time I gave myself something special before I go back to work." I'm thinking, facial, massage, and maybe even a pedicure (having my feet pampered is almost as good as sex for me).

I immediately found a parking spot katty/corner to the place. Good sign, right? I walked in and just grabbed a "menu."

Wha-wha-WHAT???? Their CHEAPEST package was upwards of $250. This includes a facial, a 30-minute massage, and a "light lunch."

The package *I* want (which, of course, is pretty much all day) is almost $500. FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for SEVEN FUCKING HOURS? For that much I expect to come out with a fucking recording or movie contract or at LEAST some hot guy following me home to give me a much needed happy ending. Or all of the above. Jesus H. JUGGLER! Hmm... does the "light lunch" mean I get to keep the bottle of Dom and the 24k gold silverware?

So...off to Target I went to get my "OH so expensive" Neutragena sesame oil that I've been wanting, and a couple of other CoverGirl items I've been missing lately. UNDER $20.

Monday I'm PRAYING that the doc will give me the OK to take a bath, and then I MIGHT just spring for some cool "home-made" spa stuff or something.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Spring has sprung down here, and hopefully my new seedlings will come up soon so I can take pics. Pics of just plain ol' dirt just don't have the same effect. LOL

As If You Care...

I overdid it this week, but got a LOT done. I cleaned the apartment and got rid of a lot of "sicky" sort of stuff, did some gardening on the porch, went shopping for new herbs for "spring," got the flu, got over it, and took pics.

Brotherman snuck up on me when I least expected it... We laughed our asses off when he said,
"These sunset blog pictures brought to you by the number five..."

I have NO idea where he got that tile...

Have a great week!

Up and About

I made potato pancakes for dinner! They were tasty as hell. It wore me out! Not to mention the fight with brotherman, who took it upon himself to give my dog a bath and then tell me how lazy *I* am for "neglecting" her...whatEVER. Long story. MAN sometimes I just wanna pummel his drunk ass.
Anyway...
Here are some of the other, drug-induced pics I found on my cameraphone from the past few weeks. God bless morphine, demerol, vicodin and darvocet...LOL

Out my hospital window, sunrise, 1/26.

All the beautiful flowers everyone sent...I honestly don't remember taking any of these pics, but hey...not bad for a cameraphone, right?
And my little companion, getting me through it all...she hasn't left my side and has minded the leash no matter HOW slow I go...I love my little gooberdog.
Have a great week, peeps!

I'm not doing much except taking it easy and recovering. Maybe I'll arrange some pasta in the shape of a heart for dinner tonight... hee hee!

On My Way

...to complete recovery, that is. Friday I had that "procedure" done to get the JP drain out of my side. Good LORD what a fiasco. The doc said this is only the second time this has happened to one of his patients. Leave it to me to be "unique."

Meanwhile, everything else seems to be healing up pretty nicely. I don't think I'm going to scar as hideously as I thought I was, except for where that little infection was near my belly button. The home-care nurses are still coming to change the packing (BTW, Limpy, only YOU would make a reference to that word in my last post, ha) and bandages, although I can handle it myself now.

The days here have been in the 70's, so Mads and I have been walking just up to the corner and back twice a day. Sometimes she pulls on the leash a little too hard, but thank GOD I taught her the word "heel" when she was younger. Those short walks and the fact that she doesn't want to leave my side have been really strong medicine.

Thanks again, y'all, for all the good wishes and vibes. I should be able to get back to work in a few weeks, depending on what the doctor says. Till then I'll continue with the crosswords, daytime trash TV, and anything else I can find to occupy me. Hopefully next week I'll have the wherewithall to download some pictures and maybe do some light gardening.

Have a great week!!!

Second Round

Okay, this is it, for the love of pete.

Tomorrow I check in at noon for yet another 2:00 surgery. This one is outpatient, unless he has to cut me open again. He's taking me into the O.R. to get that drainage tube out. Said he might have to make a "small" incision if it doesn't come willingly, but even if they put me under just the "twilight" sedation it would probably hurt like hell.

Ain't life grand? After this, it's all gonna be smooth sailing, right?

The infection on that part of the incision is healing nicely, I'm told. The nurses that come every day to change the packing are really cool and personable, so that's a plus. I need people with a sense of humor. I'd drive myself crazy if I didn't have one, although I'm starting to lose it.

Thanks for all the good vibes and virtual booze! Callie ~ I SO hope Munchkin gets well soon! I'm sending well wishes her way, too!

Have a GREAT Friday, peeps!

Follow-Up

Good news and bad news... The good news is, I got my staples out Monday. It stung, but I'm over it, and since then, the incision has been more comfortable.

Okay, now the bad news, and lots of it...there are some minor complications. (Would you expect anything else from me at this point?) I had a small infection in my incision by my belly-button, so doc had to cut me open a little bit, drain it out, and put some stuffing down in there. Should be healed up in a week or two, but now some "home health care" people have to come every day to change the stuffing in the wound. My mom was here for the first one, so now we both know how to do it, and next week those guys will only have to come about 3 times a week for the next couple weeks.

Oh, and it gets BETTER!!! He couldn't get the drainage tube out. Apparently it's "hung up" on something internally, whether it's a muscle or the internal stitches, we don't know, so I'll be going for yet ANOTHER CT scan Wednesday morning to find out just WTF. I'm losing hope here, (not to mention even MORE weight), kiddos. I thought Monday would have been IT and I'd just have to wait to heal a little more before going back to work, and now this shit. Doc said that this is pretty rare, and it could take up to 6 weeks for the thing to "work itself out." Either that, or they'll take me to the O.R., sedate me completely, and then pull it out. If THAT doesn't work, then I have to get cut open again in a few months. Till then I have to put up with this stupid tube & bulb hanging off my side. Good times!!!

Where the fuck is my vodka?

Keep the good vibes coming, okay? Hope everything is good in all of your own corners of the world! We had an AWESOME winter storm blow in yesterday, and I did get some pics. I just need to download and all that happy shit. We had snow as low as 3300 ft! That's pretty low for down here. If I am up to it, I'll do my best to get some good shots of snow on the lower mountains. It's really pretty when it does happen.

Peace!!!
